My Shopping List (in no particular order)
Updated 30-09-04
Brightly-coloured trouser clips for cycling.
- a Klein Stein. I am planning to make the hat.
- More boots here.
- Still more boots.
- Really pretty mousie trackball thingy doodah... it's really pretty, it lights up when you use it!
- Music that you enjoy listening to.
- Books you enjoy reading.
- Those little novelty books that don't have all that much substance but can be quite funny.
- Postcards or greetings cards you think I would like. These are instead of posters, because I won't be allowed to put those up.
- Light-up poi
- Silk shirts. Silk skirts. Silk pyjamas/nightgowns. Silk is NICE to wear.
- Edamame
- Red Rose tea (only available in Canada)
- Green and Black's organic chocolate-covered almonds, but only if I have been a very good ewt indeed!
- high-quality herbs and spices
- Weird, unusual, or pleasant herbal tea - no caffeine please (unless it's green tea, which I seem to be able to handle for some reason) and go very easy on the other stimulants, but anything else should be fine. I have lots of bog-standard chamomile, peppermint, green tea, but if you see something unusual, I would probably appreciate it.
- A Sissel Sitfit cushion - the chiropractor said I should get one. The Sissel website for the UK is down, but you can get them at http://www.sissel-shop-usa.com/33sissit.html.
- I would like to try using a natural alarm clock and see if it helps me to get up more easily in the winter. Some sources say this is as effective as or more effective than a lightbox for some SAD sufferers.
- A pair of real silk stockings...and a pair of gloves for handling them so that I do not snag them! Buy them here or here but make sure you get ones that are big enough to fit me - I'm 6 feet tall, usually the largest size or second-largest size is best.
- Membership in the British Horn Society.
- A laptop. Really. I don't need to take it to classes, but I would like to travel a lot and it would be excellent to be able to take my work with me.
- A flatscreen monitor, the larger the better... but anything is probably better than the ageing CRT I currently use.
- Blank minidiscs and writable and re-writable CDs
- A gift certificate to get my minidisc player fix0red.
- Gimp. Rexlace. Boondoggle. Flat plastic lace. You can find out about it at www.pepperell.com, but you can't buy it from them. Places like WALMART probably have it in their crafts section, or there's Lewiscraft or Crafts Canada or whatever. I can now order it from Craft Depot in the UK, but at fairly high prices - £3.95/roll, which is a bit much when you think that in Canada it costs the same in Canadian dollars. The clear colours and the holographic Britelace are best.
- Tritium glow keychains
- Ribbon yarn - or, if you can get it, Nylotex. I've not managed to find Nylotex online, which is very annoying, but it comes in big balls at WALMART. It is made of nylon offcuts and comes in a variety of colours. If you're not sure on colours then get in touch, but black is always good.
- Plain black wigs
- Yarn of all colours - again, I go through a lot of black. Thick chunky yarn is less labour-intensive for me than little skinny yarn. I particularly like Sirdar Wow in black and dark purple, Paton's Dream in black, Rowan Kidsilk Haze in black, and any black eyelash yarn. Right now I'm particularly looking for all of the above plus black and purple Bernat Boa to finish off a cloak I am making.
- Very very way cool nice nutcra cker. I really like it.
- A coffee grinder (not for coffee; for making nut butters and stuff)
>A very nice hemp apron
72 - Starfrit oven mitt - ideally I'd lik e two - these oven mitts are quite awesome!
Someday, when-I-grow-up stuff - wot it says.
- A light pipe or sun pipe or whatever they are called. www.sun-2-u.com has them, they aren't even all that expensive for what you get... anyway, when I grow up and have a house that I can do stuff to, I want these!
- Solar hot water heating system; solar electric system for house.
- Windmill generator
- A Barbeque!
A solar charger for my mobile (which is currently a Motorola V525).
Gift Certificates - this is sortof like giving me money but making sure I do not spend it on food etc but actually get myself a present.
